For the  SMAL January 15th meeting, we are trying something new that should be of interest to all, regardless of your chosen medium or style. Members are invited to bring a piece of their art work that will be included in a group critique. Any works, at least 10×12, created in any medium, any style, framed or unframed, finished or in progress will be displayed at our meeting at the Christ Church Parish Hall.

Internationally renown artist Hai-Ou Hou will be analyzing the pieces and sharing her suggestions based on the elements and principles of design. Hai-Ou studied painting and ceramics at the prestigious Central Institute of Fine Art and Design in China and went on to teach painting and design at the Hubei Fine Art Institute. After immigrating to the United States, she received her Master of Fine Arts from Towson University and is the owner of Chesapeake Fine Art Studio in Stevensville. Hai-Ou’s work has been widely published and exhibited both nationally and internationally and hangs in many museum, corporate, and private collections. She is the recepient of numerous fine arts honors and awards and travels the world to plein air paint.
