Jay Fleming May 8 Workshop
As artists, we are called upon to provide quality reproductions of our work for publicity or publication. Learn how to photograph your artwork for use online and in print using professional photographic techniques with photographer Jay Fleming.
In this workshop, Jay will demonstrate best practices to photograph 2D artwork using best set-up, lighting practices, and professional equipment. Jay will also share pointers for using basic equipment, such as cell phones and simple DSLR cameras with modest set ups.

Arrange It… Then Turn it into Fine Art
Wednesday February 7th, 10-2:30, St. Luke’s Fellowship Hall
Flowers need to be ordered from the wholesaler so registration and payment need to be received by Wednesday 1/31
Learn to create your own fresh floral still life under the direction of expert designer Phyllis Kennedy then spend 2 hours working on art work based on the bouquet.
For about the first 30 minutes, participants will enjoy learning how the principles of design are echoed in the art of floral arrangements and the tricks of the trade for creating a live horticultural masterpiece. Artists will then spend two hours creating their own fine art works in the camaraderie of fellow members.
- Participants will bring a vase, snippers and art supplies.
- Phyllis Kennedy, former owner of Enchanted Florist in Old Town Alexandria will give step-by-step instructions on the basics of floral designs.
- Participants will chose from the provided fresh flowers, create an still life then set up to work on a floral fine art piece in their chosen medium.
- Around 2:00, artists will be invited to participate in an informal critique of the progress of the art work to help decide on how best to proceed finishing the piece on their own.
- 12 participants maximum
- $50 per person for instruction and floral supplies
