For the second year in a row, SMAL artists are invited to sell original “miniature paintings” at the Christmas in St. Michaels (CISM) Marketplace, Friday, Saturday and Sunday December 13-15th. The Marketplace is held in Grange hall where CISM tickets are sold and there is a lot of traffic.
Last year over 60 of these little gems sold. Shoppers loved them! And why not – an original piece of art for under $100. Typically, items sold for $30-$60. The top sellers were local scenes, still life’s, botanicals, florals, Christmas i.e., the usual. Sales will be split 50-50 between the artist and CISM.
Instructions for artists:
- Submit as many miniature paintings as desired.
- Sizes no larger than 4×6”
- Work may be on miniature canvas, Masonite or other firm panels (SMAL will provide Masonite panels for those who wish to use them)
- No frames, no glass
- Attach a business card or label to the back of each painting and include:
Artist name
Title of work
Price (or leave blank for the SMAL team to do the pricing
- SMAL will provide miniature easels for each painting
- Bring completed work to the October or November SMAL meetings
- Any unsold paintings will be returned to the artist at the January SMAL meeting
