Kevin Snelling, local artist and framing shop owner, will be the featured speaker at the February 20th members’ meeting.

Kevin will discuss the ins and outs of choosing frames and mats to complement works of art, and he’ll share techniques he uses to create his own artwork. Kevin will also share insight he has gained from being the intermediary between artists who participate in the Celebrate St Michaels banner program and the customers who buy banner posters in his shop. His insight will provide helpful guidance for choosing a subject for banner art.

After graduating from the Maryland Institute College of Art Kevin had a 20-year career as a graphic artist, making changes to flight manuals used for NOAA’s aeronautical charting. Kevin also spent about 25 years participating in the circuit of wildlife art shows up and down the East Coast, including Easton’s Wildlife Festival. About 15 years ago, he settled in this area and established a shop, Creative Xpressions, in St Michaels, where he specializes in custom framing and art printing, including large-format printing. The shop also offers original art created by Kevin and others, pottery, jewelry, and much more. Kevin has also taken on the job of printing the banners for the annual Celebrate St Michaels banner program, and he prints and sells posters of the banners in his shop.
