Time is fast approaching for the signature event of the St. Michaels Art League:  the 2016 Banner Program. Artists must be a member of the St. Michaels Art League to participate.  Banners will be displayed on the telephone poles lining Talbot Street in St. Michaels from April until November, 2016.

Here are some important things to note if you are planning to participate this year:

  • Original banner artwork (one entry) must be 18×18, in the following media: oil, acrylics, watercolor, colored pencil, or mixed media. (no glitter, please)
  • Artwork must be completely dry and able to be easily handled when delivered.
  • Please include your name and the name of the painting on the reverse.
  • You MUST preregister. There will be NO on site registration. Your registration form must be received by January 29, 2016.
  • Your $60 registration fee must accompany your form.
  • Artists will bring their entry for judging to the St. Michaels Library gallery  in early February, DATE and TIME TO BE DECIDED. Please check this website for updates. Be aware that there are a limited number of poles on which to hang banners. Therefore, registrations will be numbered as they are received. To be assured a space, get those registration forms in early! It is important to note that the ARTIST retains ownership and reproduction rights of the banner as well as their original artwork, and the artist can sell each privately or at one of the SMAL-sponsored shows.  Many artists have sold their artwork on consignment in local shops.

Of course, there are always more rules – they can be found by downloading the registration form found here. Download, read, sign and send with your check TODAY.
