Medium: The class is geared to oil but any medium is ok.  A couple exercises are specifically for oil or open (slow drying) acrylics, and will use a knife. Pastels are always welcome.

The workshop will focus on choosing subject matter, simplifying elements, building a strong composition, the importance of values and design, color and atmospheric perspective. Covered also will be new ways to think about your paint application to put excitement into your painting.

Demonstrations, a group critique and individual personal attention are included.

This is an indoor workshop using reference photos or sketches.  Night scenes and sunrises or sunsets and other photos using high contrasts are good however; Sara will work with students on anything they would like to paint.  Students are encouraged to work from their ipad or computer, but photos are fine also.

Beginners to advanced students are welcome however,students must be familiar with the medium they will be using.

*The evening lecture and demo is included in the full workshop.  However, the evening lecture will be open to the public for those who would like to hear Sara Linda Poly present a lecture and demo but may not want enroll in the full workshop. The pre-registration fee for the evening lecture only is $20; or $25 at the door.

 Sara Linda Poly grew in the Philadelphia area, attending classes at the Philadelphia College of Art.  Further education includes Montgomery College of Art and Design in Maryland and Northern VA Community College, and various studies with local and national artists.

Known for her light, skies and landscapes, Sara has been the winner of numerous awards (Including the Grand Prize at Plein Air Easton 2016 and First place for Small Paintings Show 2017). She has spent many years living, traveling and teaching in the US, Europe.

Sara is a member of The Oil Painters of America, The Washington Society of Landscape Painters, and The Salmagundi Club, NYC.
