MARCH free video art course
Pastel Painting Innovations: Expressive Art Techniques a FREE video course with Dawn Emerson
One session, Thursday, March 15, 2018, 10 to noon at the St. Michaels library.
For beginners considering using pastel for the first time and experienced artists who want to be inspired to do more, this video course will open new artistic expressions. Dawn Emerson’s innovative approach to tapping your creative juices while teaching the principles of art – line, value, edges, shape, composition and more will help you discover new possibilities. Using a demonstration of painting an owl, Dawn shows new ways to make expressive art using pastel as a both dry and a wet medium. She encourages artists to “paint like a maniac”. How fun is that!
Participants can come and just watch the video and see the materials used to get an idea of what you might want to buy. Or jump right in, bring whatever materials you have such as pencils, sketch pad or paper, pastels, charcoal, etc. Nothing expensive. Emerson emphasizes that you should not be worried about messing up but rather let loose and play. Draw along as we watch the video or practice later at home.
